Sheila MacLeod Robertson is a specialist in seascapes and was elected a Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1969. Her oil paintings reflect her keen appreciation of light and atmosphere. She works with a palette knife, never with a brush, yet achieves great delicacy, almost three dimensional.
Life for her began at 40, having previously nursed her elderly parents, she was then able to return to her painting on a full time basis , initially supporting herself by stoking a school boiler. Now in her seventies she crews on sailing expeditions to remote Hebridean islands which provide her with inspiration for her paintings.
