Charles graduated
from Glasgow School of Art in 1974. A scholarship
took him to Texas where he studied both
visual and performing arts which he also taught.
From 1976 to 1991 he
was based in London both acting and painting.
In 1992 he and his wife took a year out to travel the
world, returning to settle in Scotland where he has
been painting, performing and lecturing part-time at Glasgow
School of Art.
He is enjoying success in both London and Edinburgh with
his original paintings and now has two of his
paintings available as limited edition prints
"At the moment all my work is happening in a figurative way.
Given that all painting is insome way a simplification en route to
understanding, I take that simplification and choose either to highlight it
or
layer it with textures. Each painting presents its own character from its
early marks and takes me on its own journey & quot;.
